yep, i recommend patience. anything worth the time of downloading will
    take time to produce.

Actually, I just got HL2 Substance, I am enjoying it.
Even if you decide to play as Gordon F., it feels like playing a 2nd version
of the original HL2, which is cool IMHO while waiting for the next
    installment ; )

    Their site: http://ludus1942.ngi.it/
    It takes about 85Mb.
Half - Life 2 : Substance enhances the HL2 single player experience John Woo
style, has a new action oriented gamestyle, deadly challenges and extra
gorish killings make it the best choice for HL² veterans who hunger for more
replay value. Welcome to the real Substance, what action is made of!

    Features
a.. The Substance campaign bugfixed and revisited with bullsquids,
    houndeyes & assassins
b.. The vanilla campaign is available too, in the all new weapons and Hev
    Forms fashion
c.. An all new VR Training map to acquaint yourself with the latest new
features and make you skills perfect
d.. The HEV Forms class system: choose the one that suits your personal
gaming tastes best between the 'Liquid Snake Form' (attack), 'Big Boss Form'
(survival) and 'Solid Snake Form' (stealth)
e.. A whole new set of weaponry
f.. Bullet Time advanced, Friendly Fire with retaliation system and now
also Open Wounds! Crouch to stop the bleeding and regen your health, if
    badly injured
g.. Many new customizable hotkeys, including the Halo-life Melee Attack &
Grenade Toss buttons and the Skill & Cheats buttons!

There's also HL2: Capture the Flag, Plan of Attack, and some other
smaller mods here and there. You can always download single player maps
as well if you want; there are some good ones around.

    Try this site: hl2.filefront.com
