To the best of my knowledge you can't do this directly (launch programs) but
you can do it by using an application such as NetMeeting or PC Anywhere.

Anything you can do with wired, you should be able to do with wireless if
your network is setup correctly.

Your XP comes with Remote Desktop. Use it.
Details are in online help.

For any application to work [run] on a specific Windows based computer it
must first be installed on the PC itself.
If it is your thought to install Word on one computer and have access to
word for all others, then sadly you are going to be disappointed. You need
to buy a licence for each and every PC.
Remote connection to another PC will allow you to 'control' that other PC as
if you were sitting at the keyboard in front of it: be it 1 foot or 10,000
miles away. You see the other PCs desktop on your PC but use your mouse +
keyboard to control it.
At home it may not be a problem for your to do this and print to a common
printer: youy will not be able to store files directly to another PC unless
it is set up to allow sharing of a specific folder amongst other networked
PCs.
Doing this also prevents the use of the other PC during the time you assume
control.
