Somebody gave me a cheap digital camera that looks like it was a promotion
for Earthlink. The Web address on the bottom (which goes nowhere) is
www.xirlink.com. The model number looks like DSCpro.
I realize this thing is pretty cheap, but it might be fun if I could get it
going. There was no CD in the box, and I can't seem to find drivers for it
anywhere on the net. XP recognized the camera, but won't link to it without
drivers.

Don't know anything about the camera but you could try emailing the
address at http://www.whois.sc/xirlink.com. You will have to type the email address in as it is protected.

Nothing seems to work, and I can't seem to find an .inf file anywhere. The
computer does beep when I turn the camera on and off.

Thanks. Nothing seems to work, and I can't find an .inf file anywhere. The

When you say XP wont' "link" to it - does it recognize it as a removable
devices and, if so, can you explore it with Windows Explorer / My Computer?

So how well does it take photos? Does it have a USB connection that you are
using to transfer the photos? The camera must have predated Windows XP for
it not to be recognized. When I hooked up my Canon A60 to my computer, I
never needed to load any drivers for that.

Did you follow the links? There are drivers there with install
instructions for the DSC pro under XP...from reading the install, you
have to download the pics thru their software.

Understand that. I can get the software to load, but it does not recognize
the camera.

I've had a lot of experience with cameras and XP. Sometimes XP just picks
it up, sometimes it doesn't and you need the drivers. I know other people
who have had lots of problems with these cheap cameras, and the reviews on
the intallation files for this camera are not very good.
