Is there capturing software that can captre from a fireware DV
camcorder, but save the captured files in another codec? The only ones
I've found are Ulead Mediastudio Pro 7 which can capture from a firewire
source to MPEG1, and MainConcepts MPEG Encoder. I was sort of hoping to
capture my DV footage over the firewire to a MJPEG codec instead at a
lower resolution.
The idea being that if I capture DV at, say 360x240 MJPEG, I would
edit with that, then re-digitize the clips at full DV. Sort of like what
Avid can do.
Right now, I have to capture an entire DV tape, stick a timecode
on it, then re-encode it to a 360x240 MJPEG. I'd like to skip the
re-encoding process.
