If you go to http://www.videohelp.com/capturecards and do a search
after checking the mpeg-4 checkbox, you get a list of cards (Plextor
included) that capture mpeg-1, -2, & -4. Comments on them are not very
good. There is the Darim Mpegator, which should be good -it needs be,
at $1700

OK, thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I only saw it in a catalog and thought
I would pass the link along. I'm not in the market for such a product
myself...

Well, I found that myself a couple of days ago. Looks like the major
problems come from the bundled software rather than the cards
themselves (nothing new under the sun), so there's still hope.
