I have a Sony Handicam DCRHC30 and want to download the video from the
camcorder to a DVD for family viewing from a DVD player. I have a CD/DVD
burner that came with the computer I do not have software to make the DVD. I
looked at my tower and it shows I need DVD+R's so I have them just do not
know what to do next.

If your PC came with the DVD burner chances are very high it came with
appropriate burning software. Look in your PC manual for further
directions.

Remember you'll have to purchase DVD+R and/or DVD+RW disks.

You'll connect the digital camcorder to the PC via a firewire cable (aka
iLink and IEEE1394)

I have MyDVD 4.0 which is an older version. Would I have to upgrade to burn
to dvd? Also, MyDVD doesn't seem to recognize WMV. What do I have to do to
get it ready to burn through MyDVD?

I have a Canon ES7000V Hi 8 (8mm tape) Camcorder with an S video cable
hookup comming out of the same card as the monitor is hooked up to. My video
card is a Radeon 300x series. My camcorder also has an S Video port, however
when i hook them together the computer doesn't recognize anything.
What I want to do is record my 8 mm tapes to the computer so that I can burn
home movies onto discs.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get my computer to recognize that there is
an S Video hookup. Someone please help me!!

I think the S Video port on your computer is an "OUT" port, meaning that
you can only send video from the computer out to a device (camera). I don't
think that the 8MM tapes are digital, so that would rule out a firewire card
and cable to use. You might have to get a video card has RCA inputs and
hook the camera up that way.
