Looking for product recommendations for capturing analog video,
editing and outputting to DVD or VHS.
Facts:
1. I am new to this stuff, so I need something that will work without
me having to have a degree in video technology or electrical or
software engineering.
2. I don't want to spend more than $300, would prefer <$200.
3. I am exclusively transferring analog video, both from a VCR and a
Hi-8 camcorder.
4. Ultimately will burn to DVD.
5. Project is basically a music video, so there will be many short
clips spliced together against a single audio file.
6. Synchronization of audio and video will be key, so that moments in
the music line up very accurately with video events.
7. I'm not as concerned with how quickly this can be done (i.e.
processing time for capturing, editing, converting, etc.) as much as I
am the quality of the final product (particularly the synchronization
part).
8. This is a personal project, not professional so in terms of image
quality, special effects, etc. I'm looking for decent, not top of the
line.
9. I'm working with a 267 MHz Pentium Gateway desktop with USB but
don't ask me what kind of USB. The computer is 7 years old.
10. Will I need a special video card for my pc and are there any
recommendations for a decent product?
