I am not looking to copy a DVD I am looking to play a DVD and "record"
a scene, which I can later import into my Movie Maker or Roxio
programs. I know with audio I can "rip" a song of a CD but when I have
a scenario where I can't do that I can at least copy/record a song. I
can play the song and use the small recorder program on the sound card
to copy it in real time. It creates a wav file which I convert. I
assumed the same can happen with video, and maybe it can, but I cant
figure out how?

I also have some small files like real player or quick time video
files which I cannot import into my movie maker or Roxio programs and
assume whatever answers the first part of this question might also
solve that particular dilema as well.

Thanks

go to dvdhelp.com and find a prog that will convert your dvd to mpeg2
then use mpeg tools in TMPGenc to mark your in and out points of the clip u
want

then save it

you can now burn this as a svcd using roxio or you could even do it in
miniDVD format if its less than about 16mins
