Hi,
Can anyone advise on the following:
I am trying to ActiveSync between a PPC 2003 and a desktop running WinMe via
O2 GPRS on a Nokia 6100 (IR).
I have set up a partnership between the PPC and the desktop and that works
fine via USB.
I have set up a dynamic DNS on www.dyndns.com with the name of the desktop
as the DNS entry, and that works fine (I can ping the DNS entry from the
desktop and it resolves to the correct IP).
GPRS through the Nokia works fine and I can resolve the desktop name from
the O2 DNS servers but a ping to the desktop using vxutil (9.999 sec t/o)
times out (but DNS entry resolved), and similarly a ping from the desktop to
the PPC IP also times out.
However, the PPC can retrieve web pages from the web server at the same IP
(resolving DNS).
When I try to ActiveSync, the connection starts (desktop ActiveSync screen
changes to "Connecting" ), but the connection fails with the following
message on the PPC?
"Cannot start communications with the desktop computer.
Reconnect your device. If the problem persists, see Microsoft ActiveSync
Help."
Any suggestions? There seems to be a lot of latency. Could this be
something to do with the GPRS setup?
