Does anyone know if a Canon A70 can use a 512MB or 1GB CF card. The spec
for the camera only mentions 256MB cards. Aria are having good deals on
512MB and 1GB CF cards!

Yes. It can use any size CF, at least up to 2GB. Beyond that and
you'll want to check to see whether it supports FAT32 (most current
Canon models do).
