Does Adobe Premiere Pro edit in its own native format? I know I can import
clips in a variety of formats but does Premiere convert these files to
another format/codec for the actual editing? Thanks in advance.

correct me if I am wrong but I don't think it does convert to it's own
format but does 'conform' the audio part of the imported file. I have found
the best format for editing is DV as when I import MPEG-2, it can import no
problem but jumps frames in the sequence preview window for a while (and
sometimes goes back to normal) and also found MPEG-2 is hard to synch
video/audio outputting to MPEG-2 where DV plays much better and usually
syncs better as well. The New Project window in fact only shows DV for NTSC
and PAL and 4:3, 16:9.
