Ok, when you buy a nice pocket pc & wish to access the internet, you
need a service provider, I'm told.. like for a cell phone. How much will
that usually cost per month? if that's how it's billed. Thanks, still
new to the world O' p. pcs...

If you mean while on the road, then it's too expensive, like $10 per month.
So, assuming you have a WiFi card in your PPC, go hunting for APs (access
points) that don't have WEP enabled. Some coffee shops and bookstores are a
good start. The range of these APs is very limited though, you'd actually
have to buy a coffee or sit and read a book to get a good signal, that's why
they're free :-)
If you ask about at home or office, get a wireless router ($50-$100), an 11
Mb card in your PPC may actually only run at 3-5 Mb, but hey, your fastest
internet connection is still slower than that. In net effect, Internet
Explorer on the PPC takes longer to create the HTML page for your screen,
then it takes the WiFi connection to get the data into the PPC in the first
place. No additional ISP charges.

Look around in your area for available Internet Providers,
you may even look these up on Google for your area.
their websites will tell you all about their services and
the cost of these services. you may even find some free
dialup services.
Depending on how you wish to access the internet, you'd
need a PPC and an external modem, or WiFi/Bluetooth + a
suitable Access Point or Bluetooth modem/Mobile phone.

T-Mobile ask around $20 /month for unlimited access I believe.
I'm paying AT&T $12 for 4 MB of data per Month.
