While trying to install Windows 7 on my fully upgraded computer with a brand new blank hard drive I got passed the
"loading files", the first time I tried installing it, it froze at starting windows. But then during the second try I got
passed the starting windows and it froze at a black screen.

I'd suspect a bad hard drive or RAM run memtest on the RAM if it comes back clean download the dianostics and run a HD diagnostic I'd suspect that's your problem right there. I had a similar issue on my Gateway laptop and it turned out to be the Hitachi travelstar hard drive *shudder* dying

I've seen faulty or dirty optical drives cause random issues with the windows install also. Running memtest isn't a bad idea, but if it's all new hardware, but you're still using an old optical drive, i would look at the dvd drive next. If it can't read or fails to read properly, your windows install will hang.
