When playing a DVD on my Thinkpad laptop the sound and picture "hesitate" or
hiccup about every 10 seconds. It is very annoying and makes it impossible
to watch. However, when I have my printer connected (parallel) this does
not happen.
Any suggestions?

it sounds like your printer has software on it that moniters its
status, and runs checks .. I’d see if there’s any software running for
your printer other then the drivers.
