I did some Googling and came across a couple of standalone image
stabilization programs, but I was wondering if a plugin exists for
Vegas?

I'm not aware of any for Vegas, but Deshaker works for VirtualDub and is
free.

Sounds great!

Would this be the first operation you perform on the video?

Check out the thread at http://tinyurl.com/222ju from the Sony Vegas forum
for some suggestions on this topic.
I'd also recommend getting the Wax 2.0 plug-in from
http://www.debugmode.com/wax/ and the
framserver from http://www.debugmode.com/pluginpac/frameserver.php which
will allow you to frameserve from Vegas to VirtualDub.

Yeah. The first pass I would do directly in VirtualDub, and then I'd
frameserve the second pass using VFAPIConv. (In my experience, Vegas
can't open vdr files directly)

Check out http://mythhelper.sourceforge.net for download links.

Thanks for the links. I've never heard the term "framserve" before,
so I'll have to do some reading.

Got to http://www.videohelp.com/guides and select "frameserve" in the "How
To" drop-down box (it's in the EDIT category) for links to a number of
articles.
The article at http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?link=99 is probably the
most useful.

Thanks, Mike.
I got my Panasonic GS120 and love it.
Based on some of the user reviews, I was expecting nonexistant image
stabilization.

However, it's extremely good! There were even some spots where I
shook the camera like a madman and said "Shaking the camera now."
But on playback, the image barely moves!

The color reproduction is beautiful, and the thing is jammed with
features. I also tested the anaolog pass-through, which works great.

Very happy with the first impressions.

Sounds good Mitch. Get busy shooting - and then even busier editing :-)
