How can you tell when you need a new screen protector?

Hmmm...

That will depend on you as to what you consider "still useable".

Todays screen protectors are actually better than those that were being sold
a couple of years back. I have tried several and usually stick to the type
which is washable and 'magnetic' although I never ever get to wash it
though... I normally wear it out...

When to replace? When you feel that your stylus doesn't glide across the
screen as smoothly anymore... it usually feels gritty...

Your screen protector is scratched up that pixels and even the whole image
is no longer as clear... sometimes you get refracted light from the LCD and
it gives you something like a moire effect.

To extend the use of your screen protector, you can more or less evaluate
how long it takes you toactually scratch one up... then divide that by 4 or
6 or something like that...

In my case a screen protector lasts me about 6 months... but if I rotate it
180 degrees every month, I get to extend its usefulness to more than 8
months.

never thought of removing, rotating 180, and re-applying! Will give that a
try.... I'm still using the one I put on around Xmas, so have had 5 1/2
months use so far, and no end in sight yet..... I also put one on the face
of my GPS receiver LCD and on the LCD viewer on two digital cameras. They
should last forever, since there's no writing done on the screen, just
protection from the outside world!

If you are using a WriteShield from www.ppctech.com - you'll know you
need a new screen protector when your device has been discontinued
about 12 months. :-) Yes, they last *that* long.
