I have a Samsung D500 mobile phone and I am having trouble sending the video
which I have taken to my PC via infrared. The download gets to about 90% and
then switches off - I have Microsoft Media Centre on my PC - would I need
anything else? - please advise

InfraRed is really designed for short transfers as you have discovered.
Either purchase a BlueTooth dongle or connect with a USB cable for full
functionality.
