Hi,
I have an AVI encoded with DivX5 and it has 2 soundtracks; one in English
and the other in French. Firstly, does anyone know what I can use to play
the file and only hear the one soundtrack (preferably the English one!) and
secondly, I'd like, if possible, to be able to permanently strip the French
Sountrack from the file.
I have Nero6 and VirtualDub. Would either of these be capable of doing the
job? If not, any recommendations? Freeware/Shareware would be preferable,
but I don't mind spending a few quid for a tool that'll get the job done.

VirtualDubMod supports multiple audio streams (Streams -> Stream list).
You can disable the French audio stream and save the avi with only the
English stream.

Just a quick update to say that VirtualDubMod did the trick splendidly.

There's a DirectShow filter, Morgan Stream Switcher, which I believe
is right for this, but as I have never used it... Then there's
MediaPlayer classic, with it's own filter ("View | Options | Filters |
Audio switcher" ).

Not VirtualDub, but VirtualDubMod, which allows you to select the
streams to remain when making a copy -a Direct Stream Copy, that is.
