i can't play a video

i formated my pc and now i have windows xp with latest updated installed, but
when i click to play a movie, my pc just start going slowly and freez and
windows dont show any error. My video card is Geforce 6200 128mb
can somebody help me plz

What is the file extension of the 'movie' in question?

all video MPG, MPEG, AVI, etc..

Did you install the latest drivers from the graphics card manufacturer?

yeah i installed the latest drivers and i have a codec pack installed too,
