Half-Life 2: Aftermath trailer released

Don't push, there's plenty for everyone

By Aaron McKenna: Wednesday 10 August 2005, 14:34

GAMESPOT HAS NABBED an exclusive with the first official trailer of
the upcoming and eagerly awaited Half-Life 2 expansion, Aftermath. The
expansion promises to expand upon the rather lite story of the
original and fill in time between now and the release of Half-Life 3,
which is in development but details of which remain completely under
wraps.
The trailer is available in high and low-res versions weighing in at
11.8MB and 5.1MB respectively.

Cool!

So is this a paid for add-on or is it free?

Oh, I definitely think there will be a charge for it.

As with all vitually all expansion packs, you have to pay.

Don't state "Opposing Force" as an exception; I had to pay for that when
it originally came out all those years ago.

Lost Coast is a tech demo and will be free, but Aftermath is a
full-blown game that Valve expect you to reimburse them for if you want
to play.

Not that that will stop *some* people from obtaining it without paying :-(

I've read that Aftermath will be released as several monthly "chapters"
that will sell for about $8 each via Steam. No idea how many chapters,
though.

Seems reasonable. All depends on the size and quality of the chapters of
course. It also seems a clever way to build suspense as to what will
happen.

Personally Half-life2's lack of answers was one of my only gripes with
the game.
