I have a problem playing DVD's since upgrading to WMP 10.0

I am currently using 10.00.00.3802, when I load a pre-recorded DVD (not
pirate copy) I can hear the sound but no pictures. I have tried WINDVD and
Real Player and none seem to work.

I don't get an error within WMP but I get a "can't create overlay image -
reduce resolution and colours and try again" error with the other apps. I
have done this and still have the same problem.

When I play .avi's etc I can see both sound and pictures...

Any help will be greatly received.
cheers
Alan

The latest version of WMP10 is 3923.

WMP10 does NOT come with the codecs to play DVDs. These folks have a plugin:

Did you have a problem before upgrading to WMP version 10? From what I
read, Windows Media Player does not automatically play DVDs. You will
need to install your own codec for DVD playback in WMP or other
players. Check your DVD drive manufacturer to see if they have the
codecs for you to download, usually for free.
