I'm currently running Active Sync 3.7 build (3083) on a Ipaq 3950
I've downloaded version 3.7.1 from Microsoft but it fails to install.
It goes through the file copying process but then does nothing.

Hi Brett,
Try deleting all the files in the Windows user's "Temp" directory. Go to
Start, Run and enter -
%temp%
This will list your Temp directory. The Temp directory is used for
temporary things like installation processes. Delete the files and then try
installing Activesync.

Hi Ray
No joy
Files are unpacked, a second or two of hourglass and then nothing :-(

I was going to commit suicide the other day, but I must not have been
serious because I brought a beach towel.

- Go to Task Manager
- kill/end process for setup.exe
- kill/end process for all instances is_setup.exe
- restart install again
Hope this helps.

Sorry no joy with that either.
If I go to the directory where the files are unpacked and run WCESMGR after
killing the tasks wcesmgr and wcescomm then 3.7.1 runs.

Well, you know when you're rocking in a rocking chair, and you go so
far that you almost fall over backwards, but at the last instant you
catch yourself? That's how I feel all the time.

Hi Brett,
Take a look at #6 on the following Chris De Herrera's site ---

Thanks Raj that did it.
To help anyone else with the same problem, you need to navigate to where the
files unpacked by the installer are located.
Then double click on the file is_setup.exe which installs the program fine.
I'd discovered the first bit but wasn't sure which setup file to run.
