I've been wrestling with this for several days. Per Pinnacle's
suggestions have un/reinstalled the program after using their
regdelete utility. Have been trying to burn a short test dvd and it
keeps hanging during the "writing lead out" process.

Have tried 3 different brands of DVD-RW, still no luck. I have a large
project I'm trying to turn into a DVD and I can't get the #&$@!! thing
to work.

Anyone have any success getting burning a DVD with Pinnacle 8? I'm
using DVD-RW until I see it work so I'm don't waste $4-$5 apiece for
regular DVD-R's.

Studio can be very problematic. Some people have success with it,
others do not. I have used both Version 8 and 9 and have created
100's of DVD's.

It sounds like you may have a burner compatibility problem. Try letting
Studio create the DVD files but burn the DVD using another program.
On the DVD setup tab, select "Create disc content, but do not burn"
Then using another burner program, create a DATA disc using the
VIDEO_TS (change it to upper case) folder that Studio creates. If
you still cannot complete the burn, then you have some problem with
your burner.

By the way, what kind of discs are you buying that cost $4-$5 apiece?

While I suppose it's not a guarantee, this is the burner the software was
bundled with when I got it at Best Buy. I got it a year or so ago but am
just now getting around to trying to burn a DVD project.

Will give it a shot, thanks for the tips.

5 - pack of Fuji DVD+R (1 RW and 4 R) at Best Buy for $25 when I first got
the drive. So far, have only tried writing to an RW until I feel confident
that this setup is dependable. A couple of days ago I got a 5 pack of
Memorex RW's at Office Depot for $20, took them back when the drive didn't
even seem to recognize 2 of the discs. Got a 5 pack of their store brand for
about $12.

How crucial is it that it be changed to upper case? For some reason, it
won't accept it as upper case, keeps converting it to lower. I find if I
leave one letter lowercase it takes it, but if I try to change them all to
upper case, it changes back to lower.

I have been round and round all of support's stock of suggestions with
both version 8 and version 9 to no avail. Whatever sequence I try,
when it comes to converting AVI to MPEG it hangs the system. The only
thing I haven't tried yet is a different source of AVI, which is
currently a Sony DCR-TRV60E camcorder. These AVI files also give
problems in VirtualDub.
