where did the sound go?

I am trying to convert analog video through my pass thru device on my Canon
zr40 camcorder to digital video.

It is going from analog camcorder to zr40 via s-video, then from zr40 to pc
via firewire.

I am using pinnacle studio 8 to capture it and I do not hear any sound. I
even created a small avi and nothing. It says there is audio so I am not
sure what to do. THe other sounds are coming out of pc so sound is ok.

What to do?
