It was recently that I got my first homemade video encoded on a dvd. I got
it to playback on my dvd player successfully but I was getting some weird
results:

- The title page wouldn't work at all. It would stall the dvd player.
- Fast forward only works at 2X. Any other speed will cause the playback to
jump back to the first chapter.
- Reverse play would either stall the dvd player or cause it to jump back to
the first chapter.

Equipments:
1. Adobe Premiere Pro to encode the video and Adobe Encore to author. I have
also tried directly burning it from Premiere Pro but got the same result.
2. LG dvd writer GSA 4040B
3. DVD-R disc
4. Nero or Premiere Pro to burn the CD.
5. ElectroHome dvd player.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Albert

Albert,

The first thing I would do is try the disc on a different DVD player. I've
never heard of "ElectroHome." It's possible it's just not entirely
compatible with DVD-R. Try your disc on a newer Sony or Toshiba, or other
recognized brand. A home electronics store will have a variety--tell them
you're thinking about buying them all and test your DVD on each player.
I'll bet it works.

Second thing: you didn't say what brand of disc you used. Again, this can
make a difference. Unfortunately, some brands don't work very well. I'm
using Ritek discs at the moment, which seem to work nicely.

Good luck.

Also for DVD Videos,
try burning DVD-R at 1x or 2x.
DVD players can't keep
scanning for many error corrections,
and keep a picture on the screen.

Faster DVD burns seem to make
many "soft errors", requiring many
re-scans for error correction in
playback.

Princo also makes good blanks
at reasonable prices. Search
Google, etc.

Good luck,
George
