trouble with DVD menus (used TMPGEnc DVD Author)

I authored my first DVD using TMPGEnc DVD. The first (and only) menu page
has three motion picks to the three tracks plus a Play All button. The
final product workis fine on my PC and on my home DVD player (APEX 1500).
In the DVD player we have in our van, however, the opening track screen
loads fine...but from there, the navigation doesn't work and pressing play
(the Play All button is selected by default) doesn't do anything.

Has anyone experienced this kind of partial compatibility with a DVD player?
Is there something I could be doing wrong with the authoring?
