Printing to a local printer

I cannot get my printer to show up to be able to print to it as a local printer when I am hooked up through VPN remote desktop. I checked all the drivers and they are all up to date. Is there something else I need to check or do to get this to work. I have had several people look into it and nobody can seem to figure out why it does not work. Any help would be greatlyu appreciated.

What kind of printer (more importantly, what kind of port/connection)? Might
want to check out http://www.workthin.com/tsp.htm
