Convert MOV to VCD

Hi,

I am just getting started. I have a camera that saves video as a QuickTime
mov file. I want to do some quick edits:
Trim
Combine
Add titles
then burn the whole thing to a cd as a vcd.

I have been able to do this with bits and pieces of shareware, but I need an
integrated solution (one program that will do it all). I have tried Roxio
Media Creator but it will not work with my video card.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a software package I could use that
would cost less than $100?

Thanks,
Gary

Since when does Womble MPEG Video Wizard handle
MOV files?

What's the camera? Just curious.

While I can't give you a particular solution, I was under the impression
that most all editors will accept AVI and MOV file formats to work with,
they are pretty standard formats.

Also.. The editor will output to MPEG1 format which you just bring into
any burner program like Nero and this will make your VCD.

1 step? Rare.. 2 step, most likely. :)

Camera is a Minolta xg. Good camera - bad video format. But it is a new
camera - so mov is what I have to start with.

Cheers,
Gary

I forgot to also ask you.. What CODEC does it use? Again, just curious.

Why is the video format bad?

Thanks

I start with a mov (QuickTime) format. The reason it is bad is the reason
for this message. Most of the video editing and conversion software do not
handle the mov format. That is the reason for this message, I am looking a
single software that will allow me to ...

Do some quick edits:
-Trim
-Combine
-Add titles
then burn the whole thing to a cd as a vcd.

I have been able to do this with bits and pieces of shareware, but I need an

Quicktime is a format like a container. There can be multiple CODECs
used within quicktime. For example, you can use Sorenson, Sorenson 3,
mpeg4 for video. IMA, mpeg, or AAC for audio and so on.

Open a video clip with Quicktime player, at the top menu choose
"Window->Movie info". This shows you the details and the CODECS used in
a movie. I'm just curious to see what CODEC the camera is creating with
the QT files.. or .MOV files.

Premiere 6.0, 6.5, and Pro handles .MOV files. So do lots of others.
Which editing programs have you tried?

Also.. if you bought Quicktime Pro (30 bucks from Apple), it lets you
convert any mov to avi. It's a real nice utility to have.

I have used Roxio Media Creator and a number of shareware products(that do
not do what I need). Adobe Premier is too expensive for me (my price range
is under $100). I am a complete armature that just wants to make a few home
movies to send to the grandparents. All I want to do is take the mov file
and make a few edits and burn it to a cd.
Cheers,
Gary

In that case.. you might want to just get Apples Quicktime pro then. It
can take .mov files and turn them into .avi files. Once you have .avi
files, you can pretty much use any editor.
