Hi

I just got an ipaq 3765 off ebay and have concerns about
the battery. No manual was included so I wanted to check
I'm charging this correctly.

When I plug the adapter into the mains and the other end
into the ipaq an orange light blinks once a second. I take
it this indicates the ipaq is charging. When I turn the
ipaq on and navigate to settings->power there is a bar
indicating that charging is occuring.

The recharging state goes from 0 to 100% then back
again repeatedly. It doesn't seem to say anywhere
what percentage it's up to e.g. 25% charged.

I left it to charge for 20 minutes (not long enough
for 100% I know), then removed the mains. The power
page said "battery status: unknown". Then it turned
itself off. I pressed on again. The ipaq banner came
up then the thing failed immediately.

I've got it charging again now and will leave it for
3 hours.

Anyone shed any light on this? Should I be worried?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi ben,

I don't know if the hardware is ok (probably you will discover it using the
iPAQ some days) but some of the things you're describing are totally normal.
I mean the blinking light when charging, the progress bar at the power
settings without any indication about the % charged and so on. What you need
to do is to unplug the device and wait a moment to let the OS "know" how
much battery is available.

Let us know if some more clarifications are needed and enjoy your Pocket PC!

Yeah, I've done that now and it works well. Have to say that I'm surprised it
doesn't give you real-time progress, but never mind.
