I was just browsing this week's Best Buy ad and came across this little
number, a D-Link "Media Lounge".

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318

It's roughly similar in concept to a MediaMVP except that this has
wireless "G" built in and supports mpeg-4 (DivX/Xvid) out of the box,
and even has component video outputs. The manual (PDF) seems well
written (especially compared to the "tissue paper" 2 page "manual" that
ships with the MediaMVP).

I think this would be worth looking at - but don't try to stream 7000
kbps mpeg-2 across a wireless network regardless of any advertising hype
unless you're in the same room or have an un-obstructed line-of-sight
between antennas and have no microwave ovens or cordless phones nearby.

Do you know if some sort of linux is run on this one? Dlink software is
terrible, I have a number of their products like their DCS-900 ethernet
cameras and D-link wireless hub and they would be great products if it
weren't for the proprietary garbage software that came with them and
runs just like it's a java applet being run off a slow internet
connection.

Interesting device!

Maybe it would be better than the MVP if one was gonna
use the wired ports and NOT the wireless? What you
think?

BTW..... it des have some wired ports as well. Yes?
