I just built my third PC which I will use to work in
Video edition, burning to DVD, etc. (Pentium 4 550/ 3.40GHZ,
1GB of DDR2 RAM/ Abit AA8 motherboard with Intel 925X
Chipset and PCI Express X16 G-Force PCX 5750 Nvidia video card).

The system works fine, but I'm having a hard time trying to
find a decent LCD monitor with fast video response to get
good picture quality without ghosting, blurring effects, etc.

I just returned a NEC LCD17 I had purchased at a very good
price ($ 349 at Fry's) because it was impossible to adjust it to
achieve good color & contrast levels, not to mention the
horrible ghosting effects when displaying moving pictures.

Yesterday I purchased a very nice Princenton VL1916 at Costco,
and I plugged it with the DVI cable (included).
This monitor delivers excellent picture quality, impressive contrast
and brightness levels, and very good color rendition, but even with
the 25ms response that it features, there are some noticeable ghosting
effects when viewing fast moving scenes, so I'm afraid I'm going to
return this one too.

I have tried with my "old" "NEC Multisync LCD 1700M+" from my
other PC, and it seems to handle moving pictures better that the
new NEC I have returned and better than the 19 Princenton I'm testing
now.
I could not find what is the video response time of the LCD 1700M+
anywhere, and I doubt this older model could be faster than the newest
models.

I also have a 21" Viewsonic PT813 (regular CRT) that I
use with a PC I use to work with graphics and office work, and there
is not any ghosting effect at all (as expected with any good CRT
monitor), but I'm not going to buy another bulky and heavy monster to
plug to my new PC, so my questions are:

What good LCD monitors are there, to work with good
quality and minimal ghosting effect?

I learnt about the Samsung 172X, with 12ms of video
response time. Has anyone have seen this Samsung?

What others brands, models, options do I have?

I'll appreciate any help regarding this matter.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
