Is anyone using a USB audio interface (M-Box, Lexicon Omega, etc) to record
audio on a laptop (or any other kind of computer). Does it work OK? Any
thoughts or wisdom to pass on?

I currently record background ambient sound with a Sony PCM-M1 and binaural
mics. It is OK but I want to record to a hard drive for random access to the
sound - later during the video editing (NLE) process.

In addition to the hardware suggestions, I have found the utility
"EndItAll" to be very useful in killing off all those little processes
that can interfere with good quality recording on typical laptops.
