XP SP2 and "Phone Home" SW like the new TMPGEnc stuff?

XP will allow you to enable software that "phones home".

I'd be more concerned with why this stuff is constantly phoning home. Once
for activation, I understand. But I don't like the idea of software doing
that on a regular basis.
