Forum Windows 7 : Configuration & Customization Install XP Pro over Vista and Windows 7

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (bit old but still runs well). It came with Vista. Over time computer was used by my daughter and a "friend" installed an illegal version of Windows 7. Q. Can I uninstall these OSs and install XP which is better suited to this computer and which I know, like and understand?

No need to uninstall. Just boot from the XP CD. Select custom install when offered and format the entire hard drive. Both Vista and 7 will be gone and you'll have a fresh install of XP. Good luck!

Problem with that is, where are you gonna find the drivers?

Since it is an older system, driver support should not be an issue. Drivers can be found at Toshiba's website:

What you just showed is when Win 7 just came out. The problem is toshiba stop Win XP support when Vista was released. So as I said, where are you gonna find Win XP drivers?

Since XP is a mature (and going away) OS, the drivers that Toshiba offers are also mature and should be quite stable. The bottom line is that drivers for this platofrm are definitely available from the system vendor, as well as from generic sources (intel.com). So what is the point to your (kg4icg) question? There is zero issue for driver support for XP on this system.

Have fun!

No problem, you can try downloading codecs. There is one called CCCP or some other ones....
