Is there such a thing as CD+RW? where one can delete files on the CD, or is
there only CD-RW where one can not delete individual files or images?

There is only one standard CD-Rom format, however you can use packet
writing mode to achieve behavoir like you want.

The deleted files are only hidden, aren't they? You don't get the
space back until you re-format.

No, there is Mount Rainer, which lets you write blocks like DVD-RAM.

With UDF 1.5 this is true. You need to use FAT to reuse free space.

Like on a Fat Hard drive or floppy they are hidded, so as long as the
FAT believes it is empty, it will write there.
