Hi,
I'm running a computer that is set up to re-start should the power fail, then come back on. This computer automatically re-starts and loads the video cameras it monitors. It does not use login information on startup.
When attempting to access this system remotely, without a computer name and password I can not connect. If I configure the remote with user name and password I can then log in. Problem is, if the power should fail and then return on the remote system it will not re-start the program but only sets waiting for login information.
I need to have the two computers be able to connect through dialup without requiring a a computer name or password.
Thanks,
Ron

I haven't read Al's posted threads.

My home machine (which is relatively physically secure!) is set to autologon
using a username and password. This can be done via the TweakUI download
from www.microsoft.com/xp

It boots, and comes up to the desktop, and an applet connects to my dynamic
DNS service. I can definitely reboot it remotely--in fact, on Monday I
remotely uninstalled an XP Service pack, rebooted, and began the install of
another Service pack, all from miles away.

You can set up to connect without a password, and, in the situation where
the dialin is the only networking involved, this may be reasonably safe--but
I'd sure prefer to use a username and password and make sure the power
recovery and reboot situations are handled correctly.
