Hello all-
I recently attempted to use my Canon Elura (yes, an early miniDV unit), to
which I noticed that my recordings and playback resulted into a extremely
disjointed image, with several blocks the screen out of place, and virtually
unwatchable.
I've researched the web a bit about this problem, but wasn't able to come up
with a concrete answer as to what I'm experiencing here. Is it possible this
is just a severe buildup on the playback and recording heads? To that, I
tried a standard miniDV head cleaner, but didn't have much luck with it.
Any insights to this problem would be much appreciated.

Most likely this is due to head alignment. It should be adjusted using
a standard setup tape, but you might be able to get someone to align
it to suit your tapes.
