Remote Desktop Blue Screen

I am having a problem with remote desktop after I
disconnect from a session with the host computer. The
host computer sits at the blue background screen (where
you would login) not allowing any more logins until it is
rebooted. Has anyone else experienced this problem and
if so is there a way to correct it without doing a reset
of the system. Also note that you cannot log back in
remotely when this happens. Both systems are Windows XP
