Hi,
I'm trying to trnasfer my old vhs tapes to the computer so I can get put
them on vcd, and get rid of most of the tapes.
I'm using an jvc vcr/dvd combo - HRX1EU, and a Pinnacle Studio AV7DV capture
card with a Blue Box. And Studio Deluxe 7.
I'm using the SCART output from the vcr to an adapter - scart to composite I
think (its the one where you have two plugs for sound and one for video) -
from the adaptor to the Blue Box and from there to the Capture card.
Sound and picture shows up okay in Studio, only problem is that its in Black
and White.
I've been looking through Google Groups and searched the net to try and find
an answer, but so far no luck.
I've only found ansers that talked about it being caused by ntsc/pal
problems, but the tapes I've been trying to transfer has been local tapings
from tv. Video is Pal and capture card is set to Pal.
Or else, is there another way to easily transfer video from tapes to
harddisk ??

Frae Auld Bob Peffers:
Read Appendix B, (Tips and Ttricks), in the handbook that came with the
Pinnacle hardware/software. It has several hints on the settings. Read also
Appendix C, (Troubleshooting), and D, (Usdeful Hints). These hints and tips
are also in the Help files and there is a PDF format Manual on the Pinnacle
CD. It is rather a long time since I did that transfer to CD/DVD task and I
remember I had the same problem and solved it from those hints and tips in
the manual. Unfortunatly I cannot remember exactly what steps I took to
solve it but only that I did not need outside help. If I remember I will
post what it was.

Check that there isn't an "S-Video" option somewhere in the software. If
this is turned on, composite video will come out black & white.

Hi
Thanks for the answer.
I went through the manual and tips and hints but so far nothing helped.
I went through Pinnacles own forums, and appareantly its a known problem,
they just dont want to do anything about it. There was a fix, a 'cracked'
file but unfortunately only for Win98.
Guess I'll just have to get the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250, and see if that can
do the trick instead.

There is an 'S-Video' option, but I har it set to Composite. I tried
changing it and tried the adaptor with a S-vhs cable instead, but still no
colors.
