Yes--3389, TCP.

The main difficulty with RA is getting the correct IP address in the
"ticket."

This will work better if you enable UPnP on the machine requiring
assistance, and on the router, if available, and if you use Messenger for
the invitation.

Yep.. Remote Assistance uses a subset of the remote desktop
functionality.
