Hi. I'm trying to use firewire to capture video to my PC. I am following
the right procedure, and can control the camera from Movie Maker 2 and other
video software. The problem is that it doesn't actually send any video when
I try to do the capture. I get a black window and when I stop it, it says
the capture failed.

I am using the firewire port that came with my ASUS motherboard.

Any suggestions to try?

I too had that problem with a JVC-GR-D22 camcorder. I looked all over
the net and found the following solutions.

1. If you are using windows XP, upgrade with servce pack 2.
2. Make sure your firewire card has a Texas Instirument (TI) chipset
on it. Apparently the JVC camcorders are picky about the chips
3. turn EVERYTHING off, (computer, camera, etc). Then reboot the
computer. try it once with he camcorder on, and if that doesn;t work,
try it with the camcorder off. Whichever way works, use it.

I ended up upgradeing to SP2 and it fixed everything

Good luck

Mike
