15" Hyundai monitor had no problem for 3 years. Suddenly yesterday
I heard some flicking inside of monitor then the right side of monitor
is way off. The color is changed. The green background windows 98 color
is not all green any more. The right side is changed fromg green to
pink and left side is littled changed to green. I did some research
on internet. The research suggested the one of color gun has died.
I guess it's time to get rid of the monitor. I was thinking about TV repairman
or is there something I can do with my little electornic knowledge.

If you recently put an unshielded magnetic object next to the monitor, this can
cause problems.

Do yourself a huge favor and upgrade to a bigger monitor. I've seen 17" for
under $80 after rebates and coupons. The bigger screen is much bigger. So my
advice is don't waste any money on repair. It isn't worth fixing.

If you have any green on one side or the other - the CRT
has been magnetized or the green gun bias amp is fried
(each gun as a bias voltage that steers the electron beam
onto the CRT screen in the front).

If you have lost all green color on the CRT the amp to
the green gun is fried ( you have three amps for three
guns for blue, red, green).

The very high voltages and current levels used in a CRT
can cause death by electrocution, and you should not attempt
to repair it yourself. Note the cost of repair may equal the cost
of purchasing a new monitor. CRT monitors contain lead and
other carcinogenic elements so your local (CA) jurisdiction
probably has a special facilities and anti-pollution laws
to deal with the proper disposals your CRT.

Have you heard the word JUNK. That is what you have. Get real a 15"
monitor can usually be pickup if you drive around and look on trash
day for zero. Local garage sales and flea markets will almost pay you
to take them. I have seen new flat screen CRTs at Office Max and Frys
for less than $70. I kinda of wonder what you machine age is.
Probably from your question you have old hardware also. Time to think
of the whole system upgrade. Prices are dirt cheap.

I really wouldn't bother. Look at the price of a new 17" or 19"
monitor and treat yourself. If you're really broke, ask around and
you'll probably get given a 15" replacement.

agreed with probably just getting a new one. The Staples site may be a
good place to do some research on what else is out there.
