Can routers work as standalone hubs? Let's say I have a router with built in 2 port hub can I plus another 4 port router to the 2 port router to increase the number of PCs than can share Internet?

if the router has an uplink port u can connect another switch/hub or router from there. U also maybe able to use one of the regular ports to expand off of. Check the router companies web page on the specs of the router.

like sturm said, it's do-able. Either through an uplink port with a straight through cable, or a regular port with a crossover cable.

The uplink port isn't the one port at the back of the router that says WAN, right? It's found among the 4 ports in the front?

Also I'm only doing this coz I'm having a problem with the 4 port router. If you guys could be please it. It's a topic about Home Networking Internet Problem. I really want to fix that annoying prob. I get probs with surfing the ent but not with e-mailing, gaming, and instant messenging or FTP.

yup - any one of the 4 will do. WAN is NOT uplink port.

Not sure what you're talking about in the 2nd paragraph...

You will need to get a switch or hub not another router. Most of switch or hub have a uplink port and the router does not need to have an uplink port.

dude, if you have a router already? right? and it only has 2 PC ports... then all you need to get is another HUB, not another router.

I woulda went with the Linksys 4-Port Router in the first place.. it's a good product.

anyway, im sure that router has an uplink port like stated above, usuall routers have a color picture diagram that shows all possible ways of connecting it..

the router i have, has a WAN, 4-Ports and an Uplink port.
i believe the WAN port is for like a printer that you wanna share with all your computers.. on the same network.
