MSI Eclipse Plus: Does nForce 200 Boost 3-Way SLI?

With 36 lanes of PCIe 2.0, 3-way SLI could be the X58 chipset’s biggest challenge. If that turns out to be true, is Nvidia’s nForce 200 controller hub, which multiplexes the platform's connectivity, a solution? We compare three configurations to find out. Read more

Hi there ...

Yes, I made the mistake of getting started on the project of trying to
copy my massive numbers of old VHS camcorder tapes to DVD and didn't
realize we still look to be up to our necks in a format quagmire.

I found a JVC VCR / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD-RAM unit that is doing an
excellent job ripping my old VHS tapes to DVD-R.

Problem I am running into is that I am realizing I have QUITE a few
tapes that either have maybe 20 minutes of video on them or some
camcorder footage and then some off-the-air stuff I'm not all that
interested in keeping.

I have been figuring my way around recording in DVD-RW VR mode to get
the cut points cleaned up, but of course there are compatibility
issues with DVD-RW, particularly in VR mode, to say nothing of the
fact of how expensive the DVD-RW discs are .... SOOOOOOOOOO ...

Would it be possible to copy a DVD-RW to the hard drive of a JVC
DR-MH30, do any additional cut editing there, then burn the whole mess
from the hard drive to DVD-R?

THEN ... what software would I need on a PC to be able to extract the
video from the DVD-R if I wanted to do more complex editing or audio
changes?

THEN ... what software would I need to be able to get the resulting
complex edited video back onto a disc that a stand-alone DVD player
(such as relatives might own) would have a fighting chance of playing?

Thanks!

Ax
