New version of HL2 and corrupted ammo display

Seems like a new version of HL2 was released this evening?

I was playing earlier on, adjusting my video settings as I've been getting
some lock-ups while playing the game. I just restarted a minute ago and
Steam started updating the game, which took about 20 minutes. With this
done, the video settings window has a different layout, and a new field has
been added to allow me to select the HDR Lighting mode. (And I'm pleased to
see that the recommended mode for my system is "full").

Anyway, I noticed one other difference: the ammo display now seems to be
corrupted. Instead of displaying at the bottom/right of the screen, it's
halfway up the right side of the screen and is too small for the digits to
fit inside, so I can only barely read what it says.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah - I had that problem before the update - I chose a resolution my
monitor didn't like (dont remember what is was). Changed it to another
setting and the problem disappeared. Try another resolution from the game
settings. HTH.

That happens to me almost all the time when I change resolution within
the game. After I restart HL2 the ammo is back in the right place. So
I don't know if I'd recommend changing resolutions, just don't do
anything and restart.
Perhaps the update reset the auto display settings changing the
resolution from what it was at before, that would cause the problem.

America's adolescent overconfidence, repulsive overconsumption, cultural putrefaction and moral vertigo guaranteed the rise of a class of hungry, humorless nonentities and mediocrities, severely limited in everything but their personal ambitions--scruple-free "kiss up, kick down guys" who confuse their own stunted, needy, self-righteous self-absorption with objective reality."

Hey, thanks for that Steve, perhaps I can play in preferred rez. I'll try
that out...

Every time you change your resolution, you have to mess with your AA/AF a bit to fix it. Or was it vice versa?

Just know there's some sort of connection between resolution, anti-aliasing, anisotrophic filtering and the HUD problem.

i have that problem too but a much easier way to fix the probelms that i didn't see mentioned is that after you have the problem change you resoultion to a new setting then when its done change it back to what resoultion you want and that should fix it for you.
