Some people follow the advice to stick to the same brand of miniDV
tape to avoid mixing lubricants. Does anyone here know if all Sony
tapes (specifically the cheap "Premium" and the higher end
"Excellence" ) use the same lubricant?

I use Excellence (with chip) exclusively when capturing new DV footage, and
Premium when copying old home movie footage. My camera is a TRV22E and I
haven't noticed any problems yet.
