I have a Pharos iGPS-CF unit. Lost the CDs. I'm getting a Dell Axim X5.
I'll be using the Mapopolis software. Do I need drivers for the GPS? where
can I get them? There is no driver to download on Pharos' site.

You won't need any drivers. GPS units, although complex on the
inside, are simple beasts as far as connectivity is concerned- they
simply output serial text data, like a terminal or modem, and the
"universal" serial driver is already built-in to your PPC.
If Mapopolis can't find your GPS by itself (but it will!), select the
correct COM port (COM5 on the Axim X5, IIRC) and baud rate (4800bps)
and enjoy.
I've used Mapopolis w/o any trouble on my Axim, but due to the expense
of voice maps, I've stuck to using Pharos' Ostia for navigation and MS
Pocket Streets for POIs (restaurants, etc.) because the POI database
is Ostia's only real limitation, IMHO.
