Then my assumption was right. The XL2 has a chip which controls the 16:9
output to 4:3 display, which is the same as a DVD players' "normal 4:3
letterbox" function. Your only means of gaining 16:9 playback on a regular
TV is to go to DVD using 16:9. At that point the DVD player functions will
take care of the rest.
