Our company has been approached by a client who wishes to have us
create a custom kiosk-like application for him that would allow for
the creation of custom DVDs. Since this Kiosk-like device is being
pitched as having franchise potential, ... I was wondering if there
would be any licensing issues to contend with in regards to the MPEG2
compression that will obviously be used for the DVD creation. Is this
something that we'd need to take into account and mention to our
client prior to writing up a proposal? Or if the client agrees to
purchase a commercial dvd-authoring / mpeg2 encoding application, ..
would that automatically cover the MPEG2 licensing fees? Basically,
I'm trying to find out if the client is going to have to pay out a
certain percentage of the revenues they earn to contribute towards
MPEG2 licensing fees. Would anyone here happen to know the answer to
this question, by any chance?
