I have a Windows XP Professional machine that is trying to set up a
remote desktop connection to a 2003 Server using terminal services.
The user has all of the necessary permissions and has connected to the
server through this machine before. Several other machines on the same
domain have no trouble and the machine in question can ping the
server. Only after pinging the server can the remote desktop
connection be established.

I'm stumped, does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this odd
behavior?

Some more information would help to resolve the cause.
You should be able to connect using ip. When you use the
name of remote server, then the name resolution may cause
the problem. (Are you pinging to name or to ip?)

Milos
